Shajarian and his band, Shahnaz, are scheduled to give a benefit concert in Tehran to raise funds for the renovation of the tomb of Shams-e Tabrizi in Khoy, West Azarbaijan Province.
The performances will take place at Tehran’s National Grand Hall on June 18, 19, 21, and 22.
Born in the city of Tabriz, Shams lived together with Rumi in Konya for several years and distilled in him the mystical passion which Rumi into a great Sufi poet. Shams was immortalized in Rumi’s collection of poetry entitled the Divan of Shams-e Tabrizi.
